A garden in the pocket

Premier: 10th November 2001
A Garden in the pocket.mov (2.5 MB)

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket
Arab proverb

...to take a book in your hand, to open it, leaf through it , put it away ...
...to put your nose into a book, to sniff around in it, to nibble at it, to devour a book, to digest it badly...
...to glance over, to become absorbed in a book, to dive into a book and barely emerge from it again...
...to be weary of it, to throw away a book, to argue about books...
...to be lonely with a book, to converse, to read from a book, to let yourself be read to...
...to find yourself reflected in a book, to recognise yourself in a book, to be shaken up, to remain awake and longing...
...to fall asleep while reading, to let yourself be bewitched and carried away by a book, to dream of a book
...not to want to close a book but still having to, to put a book in your pocket and let it blossom there, to move on and be a little different...

A library -place where forgotten things accumulate- awakens. Where books populate the shelves, readers fill the spaces in between. A child drops out of a bookshelf and the boundaries between the read and told stories and reality get blurred.
The ancient story of the encounter between book and reader is interpreted by inFlux in all its variety and sensuality.
