Dance Company inFlux
The Swiss dance company inFlux was founded in 1999 and has now established itself on the Swiss dance scene. inFlux is an international company, with varying combinations of performers depending on the productions. The artistic director of inFlux is Swiss / Spanish choreographer Lucía Baumgartner.
Since the company was founded, many members have appeared again and again in inFlux performances. The company has an inter-disciplinary approach and depending on the project brings in specialists from various artistic disciplines. inFlux has now acquired a wealth of experience in its repertoire. It produces works for the stage and for the cinema, creates specific local performances and is in demand for a wide variety of commissioned works and events.
The company produces performances that are accessible to professionals and lay people both as spectators and as participants. One of inFlux' main aims is to engage in a dialogue with other art forms and with various social groupings. Its approach is characterised by openness, risk-taking, curiosity and the courage to overstep boundaries and to think outside the box. What's more, inFlux is weather-proof – as it has proved during several open-air performances.
inFlux performances are based on dance as an art form. Its
scenic dance theatre and its abstract danced images are notable for distinctive
characters and a high degree of musicality. Their language is gentle, poetic
and melodious, and they impress with their scenic images and
choreographic consistency, which J.P. Pastori has described as a "new
poetic art." This professional company is used to working in an inter-disciplinary
fashion, even in areas where there is little access to culture.
All company members have a solid pedagogical background from
working with professionals and with lay performers as well as with people
with difficult social backgrounds (marginal social groups) and with disabled
persons.
